implantology has being developing swiftly. Annualy it is placed hundred thousands of implantants.
However, really high rates of growth are observed perhaps only in the USA, the Western Europe and
Japan. Now in all civilized countries implantation is an integral part of stomatology, alongside with traditional techniques. Implantation is considered to be the most
elite field of stomatology all over the world. In our country this field only starts to develop.
„ Implantologyis certainly claimed in our country, but promotion of the technique is interfered by unavailability of stomatologists to offer the service widely. Unfortunately, I do not have data on the domestic market, but statistics on the United States where life standard is much higher is eloquent enough:
10 % of Americans older than 18 years and 44 % are older than 75 years suffer from adenty (absence of teeth);
only 30 % of Americans older than 18 years have a full dentition, and an average fifty years' man has no 12,1 teeth;
more than 80 % of the USA citizens has no at least 1 tooth and only 20 % have had this or that treatment with the purpose of completion of defect - Alexander Smirnov, the Chicago center of modern stomatology
„ One more obstacle is the popular belief, that implantant placing is " more
aggressive and difficult technique ". Nonsense again. Concerning technique aggression we shall notice,
that is not known, that is more aggressive - to place implantant or to grind absolutely healthy teeth. Concerning difficulty: it is necessary to recommend to use qualitative and thought over implantant systems. Till now the population is not well enough informed about the opportunities of stomatologic implantation. The data on this method of treatment appear in weekly editions or widespread orally - and not always objectively. Frequently implantation is cosidered to be a synonym of cosmetic treatment. Such not always exact information can strongly affect on the attitude of patient to treatment that is why it is extremely important to define in time how real his cosmetic requirements are. The higher requirements of the patient are, the better his mutual understanding with the stomatologist and the closer their cooperation should be. The patient should be completely
informed of opportunities, probable complications and duration of treatment.
In summary, I'd like to mention one more extremely indicative fact. According to the standards of American Stomatologic Association if the patient has no one and more teeth the stomatologist have to offer implantantion, thus if he cannot make this manipulation the patient should be sent to the expert. Otherwise the doctor can be
sued.
